I have been wearing a wig for seven years and there is a whole wide world of wigs out there. It can be very intimidating. I felt embarrassed whenever I dared walk into a wig shop, almost like walking into a sex store.
Alot of black women wear wigs everyday because it is easier to manage than their own natural hair. As well, they are open to changing their style, going short or long. If people know you wear a wig, your options are limitless.
However, if you are trying to camouflage the fact that you have lost your natural hair (either because of illness/ cancer or alopecia) your reasons for buying a wig are mainly psychological and this is a very painful process which involves grievance.
A woman who is hiding the fact that she has no hair will want a wig exactly like her own hair, which is why they will ask for a photo of you with your hair to help style the wig to make it as much as your own.
Someone like myself, who has had timeto grieve the loss of my hair, and seven years later is more familiar with the different types of wigs available, starts to be more daring, with styles and colors. This actually can be fun!
I will be looking into choosing a wig through this blog because I want to share my knowledge. Wigs are very expensive and considering this is an accessory you wear everyday , you need to feel compfrtable and confident weafring it.
We will look at quality and price ranges. We will look at all the types of wigs and when they are recommended. I am so excited to embark on this journey. I think manyh people look for informatio and get contradicting info from various website of wholesale wigs, especially the lacefront remi hair shams out there, beware!!!
Are you loosing your hair? Have you lost your hair? How are you coping today?

Living with no hair
In our society, I don't have to spell out the importance of beauty. A woman's worth trully is her beauty. A secret weapon to have and to cherish. Beauty practically runs our economy. We invest so much into our youth, our beauty. In fact, our wealth goes into our beauty.
Hair loss is treated by dermatologists and this is an industry of itself.
Alopecia (al-oh-PEE-shah) means hair loss
Alopecia areata (hair loss in patches)
Alopecia totalis (lose all hair on the scalp)
Alopecia universalis (lose all hair on the body)
Loosing all of my hair so rapidly made it hard for me to come to terms with it. Waking up every morning, I would face the reality again and again, almost like it was not a bad drema I was waking up from after all. After the first year, I did seek therapy.
I was ashamed to admit that I was affected by it. Assuming I was that superficial upset me, alot. I had never thought twice about my long black hair. Never considered the possiblity of not have ing my long hair with me all the time.
Waking up to a scalp. A bald, shinny cold scalp.

Follicle, follicle, wherever you are!!!
I lost all of my hair at the age of twenty five. It happened over the course of eleven days. I began to notice a more then normal amount of hair lingering around the sink, and on my elestic when I undid my ponytail. Someone pointed out the trail of hair I left behind me at the gym.
By day three, I was concerned, simply because brushing my hair scared me.
My mother was away in Africa for Christmas and Iwas spending the holidays with my boyfriend's family.
I confided to my friends who reassured me that it was normal to loose some hair with the seasons, just like dogs and cats...
This was not the case. Christmas day came and I was buying my first wig (not hairpiece) after New Years 2005.
